The suspension above ground that one experiences during flight at once amazes and
terrifies me. Capturing the essence of earth as it is seen from above and imagined in
cross-section, my paintings recall land forms such as fields, lakes and sky.  The
relationship of man-made structures to the natural landscape creates a dialogue
between organic and geometric shapes.

Contours of landscape seen from above offer a dynamic structure on which to build a
work of art.  A dance unfolds between painting and drawing.  The interaction between
colors develops as boundaries step from rigid to fluid and space transforms from
shallow to deep.
